Susan Dodd Memorial Scholarship Receives $50,000 Gift
by Public Information Office on Jan 23, 2025GILROY, CA - The ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Foundation announces a $50,000 gift from the Hauer-Dodd Revocable Family Trust to support the Susan Dodd Memorial Scholarship Fund. This generous contribution will help ensure the long-term sustainability of two annual $2,000 scholarships for ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ students pursuing degrees in Kinesiology or participating in athletics.
The scholarship, established in 2020, honors the legacy of Susan Dodd, a beloved figure at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ who served the institution for 37 years. During her tenure, Dodd worked as a full-time kinesiology instructor, coach, Athletic Director, and department chair. Her dedication to student success and passion for athletics continued even after retirement, demonstrated by her $120,000 donation to the Athletics Department in 2023.
"This gift reflects Susan's lifelong commitment to education and athletics at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ," said Dr. Pedro Avila, Superintendent/President of ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ. "Her legacy will continue to impact future generations of student-athletes and kinesiology majors."
The Susan Dodd Memorial Scholarship is available to continuing students majoring in Kinesiology and transfer students who are either Kinesiology majors or have participated in ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ athletics. Applications for the 2025-26 academic year will open on January 27, 2025.
