Text Spam
Dear Community,
It is that time of year again for digital and text phishing (fraud) from scammers.
It has been reported to me that several folks have received a text message from an unknown number claiming to be me. Please DO NOT respond to it, as it is fraudulent activity.
The texts will ask you to buy gift cards/credit card pins or transfer money. The email scams will say something is waiting for you, hoping you respond to the email, thereby attempting to gain access to our IT infrastructure or your personal data.
Please be vigilant of any digital text/email phishing, and immediately forward these messages to our IT Department (help@gavilan.edu) with the subject line: "PHISHING SCAMS."
Please be aware of strange messages and bring them to our attention.
Kind Regards,
Dr. Pedro Avila
