A message from our Head of School

  • Our world is changing very fast. Our environment is under threat from climate change and global conflicts. Technology has redefined how we do things and relate with and to each other. We are living longer and having fewer children. Our workforce is shrinking while our demands are increasing. Young people are unsure of the future. Families are struggling to meet basic needs. Old jobs are disappearing while new ones are just emerging. Therefore, we need a new way of thinking and looking at education and skills development. It is no longer business as usual.

  • The Canberra School of Professional Studies was established to challenge old ways of skills and knowledge development. It is made up of innovative academics and professionals with cutting edge research, industry experience, educational excellence and learner engagement. We are agile. We work in co-creative and co-design spaces. We do things differently, think differently and challenge existing systems and processes. We collaborate to cross fertilise ideas. We are a new thought leadership school from UNSW, a Go8 University in Australia, ranked 19th in the world, located at the heart of our nation’s capital.

  • We combine cutting edge research and technology, industry and government collaboration and innovative teaching to seek solutions to local and global challenges. We are unique. We are not afraid to make mistakes. We are not an ordinary degree awarding school. We produce professionals ready to hit the ground running.

  • We are looking for people willing to make a difference in their communities and the world. We are looking for those ready to challenge systems, ask questions, think differently, are adaptable and agile, who look for alternative solutions, and are not afraid to make mistakes. We teach differently and you will be challenged differently. If this is you, then we have a place for you at the Canberra School of Professional Studies. We are NOT interested in those who are comfortable with the status quo.

While your ATAR is important, it does not define you. We want people with inner drive, capable of transforming a world in need of change. If you need support, our Gateway Program is a wonderful equity and access opportunity to transform your dreams into reality in our unique school.

    Welcome on board.
